Albany Wood Pellet Plant Opens
Forestry Minister Terry Redman officially opened Plantation Energy’s $25million wood pellet plant, the first of its kind in Australia.
“This plant ticks all the right boxes: a new industrial sector, valuable export dollars, production of renewable energy, creating new employment for the region, finding a commercial use of low value or waste products and improving plantation viability,” Mr Redman said.

Volunteers Needed
The Albany Classic would not take place if it weren’t for the generosity and support of local sponsors and volunteers. Volunteers work in teams as small as 2 and can be as great as 30, if not more. All team leaders are well briefed and knowledgeable. (more…)

Albany Car Classic

Albany Classic Car Race
30 to 1 June 2009
In 1936, Albany was the first mainland town in Australia to host a “round the houses” car race.
The event was highly successful and continued for nearly 30 years. The “Albany Classic” as it is now known, is run annually and has become one of Albanys icon events. The “Albany Classic” is a 2 day event, traditionally held over the June Long Weekend. (more…)
