Whale Watching

Whale Watching Cruises depart the Albany Town Jetty every morning and most afternoons during the whale watching season from June-October. See  Humpbacks and the Southern Right Whales as their calves play on protected coastline.

WA’s First Marine Park

Environment Minister Donna Faragher will today announce the final stage in the creation of Western Australia’s first marine park in the south coast. 

The Walpole and Nornalup Inlets Marine Park is the 13th marine conservation area in the State but the first to be created since 2004.

Albany’s New Entertainment Centre

Residents of WA’s Great Southern are invited to have a say on the name of Albany’s new venue.

Michael Schumacher’s Car in Albany

Formula 1 racing legend Michael Schumacher’s famous red Ferrari will be on show in Albany on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th June 2009. This will be it’s first trip to the Great Southern of Western Australia.

It’s looking to be a great Whale Watching season for Albany and the South Coast this year.Already several humpbacks  been spotted in Albany’s King George Sound before  the official start to the whale watching season in June

Volunteers Needed

The Albany Classic would not take place if it weren’t for the generosity and support of local sponsors and volunteers. Volunteers work in teams as small as 2 and can be as great as 30, if not more. All team leaders are well briefed and knowledgeable.

Albany Car Classic

Albany Classic Car Race

30 to 1 June 2009 

In 1936, Albany was the first mainland town in Australia to host a “round the houses” car race.
The event was highly successful and continued for nearly 30 years.  The “Albany Classic” as it is now known, is run annually and has become one of Albanys icon events. The “Albany Classic” is a 2 day event, traditionally held over the June Long Weekend.

This Saturday the ALBANY FARMERS MARKET in partnership with the  CITY of ALBANY and ALBANY REGIONAL VOLUNTEER SERVICE will be hosting an event to celebrate NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK.

Fun Night at Albany Speedway

Albany Speedway holds it final event for the season on Saturday May 16th. Following last year’s successful fun night, a twilight meeting will be held this year, starting at 3pm.
