The Lotterywest support represents a major acknowledgement of the success of the Community Portal concept and Albany Gateway’s continuing vision for delivering benefits to the Great Southern community
An indication of the broad-based community support that the site has received can be seen from the variety of other funding sources which includes the Great Southern Development Commission, the Great Southern Employment Development Committee, Albany Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with in kind support from

Peter Watson MLA, Jullie Wallis Chair of Albany Gateway, Matt Benson MLC and Bruce Manning CEO GSDC

the Great Southern Area Consultative Committee, Albany Worklink and the Albany Business Centre.
Since its establishment there has also been enormous inputs provided by past and present board members, small business and community organizations to create a powerful Regional web presence that currently attracts an average of 75000 visitors a month.
However during this time the original design has become dated and in need of an update to allow more interactivity between the local community, businesses, event organizers, locals and visitors.
The new site will provide systems to track that information is up to date and accurate and will have improved navigation and search functions, making it easy to find all business, community services and organizations in the Great Southern.
Another exciting improvement will be Web 2 functions such as blogs and forums that make it easy to interact with the community.  Development work will be undertaken by local IT firm Z Networks, further confirming the group’s commitment to supporting local business
